Abstract

The artist's statement: My work is inspired by the changing qualities of clay through physics and chemistry, an inherent base material that functions as a connection point through the realm of geology within the language of humanity. The fascination lies within the concept of deep time and its association with craft, a process-oriented skill of manipulation. It is through the earth’s structural limits that I can create forms capable of surviving for centuries. There is an undeniable power in my artifacts because of the way they exist in time. It is the overarching idea that an object's beauty lies not only in its aesthetics but also in the process by which it is given life, creating a powerful tension.
