| dc.description.abstract | J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte undertook a strategic planning and management process rooted in stakeholder inclusivity, aligning with the university’s broader 10-year strategic plan, Shaping What’s Next. Recognizing past shortcomings in engagement and diversity, the library expanded participation from 14 to 91 stakeholders and adopted a research-informed, seven-phase inclusive planning model. This approach integrated theories of stakeholder participation and diversity to foster transparency, strategic alignment, and accountability. The resulting 2021–2031 strategic plan is actively used to guide decision-making and progress monitoring, supported by performance metrics and regular reviews. Participant feedback from interviews highlighted increased buy-in, clarity of purpose, and suggestions for improving future planning efforts, including tailored baseline education and diverse leadership. The inclusive process has transformed strategic planning from a reporting exercise into a dynamic, collaborative framework for organizational growth. | |
