| dc.description.abstract | The artist's statement: My work seeks to explore the subconscious through the aesthetics of language, bodily distortions, and compositional relationships. Whether working in print, drawing, or other media, narratives are told through natural motifs and purposeful obfuscation. I use composition as a storytelling device, and a way to process the world around me. Through my use of asemic writing I invite viewers to consider the role of language within their own mind, as well as wider society. In an age where we are slowly slipping into technofeudalism and functional illiteracy, I have found asemic writing to be a useful way to bring attention to this idea. My goal is also to reframe the way that we think about visual communication, and the aesthetics of text. | |
