The artist's statement: As a woman of color and graphic designer, I feel responsible to express and incorporate diversity and experiences into my works. I enjoy being able to relate to other pieces and feel a connection to the artist and their message behind the work, and that is something that I want to do with my own. My designs represent ways of expressing myself and my experiences and it creates an outlet for my ideas and emotions that I may not normally display in person. When beginning my technique, I like to sketch out ideas on paper before making it into reality. From there, I'll use tools from Adobe Creative Cloud, like Illustrator, to draw and render my works digitally. My design works are usually minimalistic and uses a variety of colors to keep things clean, fun, and highlight the main point of the piece. Working with clients, I try to make sure that the project creates a connection with their audience, similarly to the way I like to make connections in my own. I try to make my designs into something that I am very passionate about. I am inspired by many current social movements that empower women and show diverse representation, like the Me Too and Representation Matters movements. I think it's important that these movements are being made and talked about. They are something that I can pertain to. In doing so, I want to continue shining a light on them by showing my support and experiences in diversity through my designs.en_US
