Abstract
The artist's statement: I feel that it is important, as a designer and an artist that every piece of work I create to have a direct and immediate impact on the viewer. Each piece should hold a message, a call to action or at the very least strike out at the viewer in some way. For my own series of images I tried to tackle most of these requirements I set up for myself. Between these few pieces I tried to create a broad range of tone, I jump from dramatic to playful all while keeping to my original guidelines. This is all intentional. In both my pieces, Think, Eat, Save, and Healthy Start I employ very playful and light hearted images while still conveying a message to the viewer to encourage more healthy and environmentally conscious eating habits. For pieces such as Metamorphosis, Frankenstein and the Raven App Design I tried to incorporate a higher intensity into the images by creating a higher contrast and making them appear more dramatic. The effects were intended to immediately have a direct effect on the viewer. The rest of the images will balance between these two ranges of fun and dramatic and I can only hope the viewer enjoys observing them as much as I enjoyed making them.
