Abstract

The artist's statement: Growing up I would always find myself gravitating towards different types of art, but at the same time, a part of my brain was always craving some form of structure or logic in order to function without being completely overwhelmed. As I got older, this left me feeling as if I would never be able to pursue art in a meaningful way. Then I found graphic design; a space where I have the structure my brain needs but also the freedom to bring my ideas to life and push my creative limits with everything I make. My work has become an extension of protecting what I am passionate about, which often times relates back to nature; I was born and raised in Colorado and continue to spend a majority of my free time exploring the outdoors. Whether I meant to or not, I began pulling a lot of my inspiration for my work from nature. I believe that there is so much to be admired and learned from the earth that it would be a shame to ignore all of that just because I work in a digital medium. I like to bring in imagery, colors, and textures from the outdoors into my work as a way to continuously tie my work back to something I am passionate about, no matter what the content is, and to bring an organic element back into digital art.
