Abstract
The artist's statement: My work explores natural dyes and natural fibers to create works of art. In life I am drawn to wabi sabi beauty; its "imperfection and impermanence." My inspiration is the often overlooked or unseen gifts in nature: the plant or seed sharing its treasure of colorful dye, the tree fruit rendering beautiful yellows or healing the human body, the sheep giving fleece to be woven into comforting warmth. My work has taken form in wearable art, functional items and architectural panels. I enjoy the integral processes of printing plant materials and fleece-to-shawl practices. I experience kinetic energy when foraging for plant materials or in the transforming alchemy of color running through natural fibers. I am fascinated by conscious processes giving way to unpredictable results.
