The artist's statement: Exploring ideas of formalism and abstraction, this body of work reflects aspects of the human form that have been extracted and distilled into shapes and shadows. Individually inspired from the human body each piece is pared down from its original form and combined with qualities seen within the world around us. While each piece is meant to resemble specific qualities within the human form such as nourishment, subsistence, and sustenance, the later use of ceramics as a medium reminds us about the potential vulnerabilities of the human body.
