Survey and assessment of critical urban wetlands: city and county of Denver
The basin-wide projects and this current study have two major components: digital wetland mapping and field-based assessments. Digital National Wetland Inventory (NWI) maps are created by digitizing existing paper maps or updating maps based on new aerial photography. These maps are then used to summarize the types, abundance, and distribution of wetlands in a defined geographic area. Field-based assessments are conducted to examine the ecological condition and stressors present at individual wetlands.
