Abstract
The artist's statement: After Garry Winogrand, many people saw street photography as a prominent art form due to his immense and incredible photographic artwork that captured the essence of the streets he wandered. However, I believe that the passage of time itself reveals the heart of street photography, which is to make permeant a fleeting moment in a continually changing environment in an attempt to reveal information normally missed. In this exhibition, my photographs take an autobiographical approach to street photography in capturing the environments of the towns in which I have lived. In these pieces, I sought to reveal the differences and striking similarities the heart of each town had to one another in a sliver of 3 months' time. The work spans from three cities that have had the greatest presence in my life; Livermore, CA, San Francisco, CA and Fort Collins, CO.
