Abstract
The artist's statement: I create photographs and multi-layer screenprints utilizing light, texture, layers, and color to explore introspective self-discovery, and altered realities, highlighting the interaction between inner thoughts and physical existence. Within my printmaking practice, I work with a combination of CMYK screenprints and hand drawn illustrations, creating surreal, identity focused, imagery. Within my photography practice, I capture nostalgic scenes with warm colors, intimate moments, and high contrast lighting, creating a sense of comfort and peace. I am passionate about creating work that inspires story and narrative in both myself and the viewer. I create moments that foster narrative and imagination. I’m constantly inspired by comic book illustrations, sunlight, and cinema, not only for the ways it prompts reflection on my own experiences but also for the visual qualities which help me set specific moods for each project. Through each body of work, I aim to continue exploration of my identity and reality, confronting both the comfortable and uncomfortable aspects of self-reflection, and encouraging viewers to do the same.
