dc.description.abstractAs part of a larger system optimization review (SOR) that GEI Consultants, Bookman-Edmonston Division (GEI) conducted for the Poso Creek Integrated Regional Water Management Plan Region (Region), a portion of the budget was used to conduct a focused SOR to evaluate the Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District (SWID). GEI met with SWID's General Manager and System Operator with the goal to document their ideas on ways to improve the SWID system, prior to the retirement of the System Operator. The SOR assessed SWID's potential for managing their available water supplies more effectively and for improvements to their distribution facilities to maximize deliveries of neighboring districts' available surface water. The finding of the SOR documented internal and external opportunities for SWID to advance their current and future water management practices.
