Abstract
"Please leave the flowers for others to enjoy" versus "Let the flowers live!" A maturing environmental ethic ought to reach a concern for endangered plants past a concern for persons. A plant, as a normative system, grows, reproduces, repairs its wounds, and resists death, engaged in the biological conservation of its identity and kind. What conservation biologists ought to do is respect plants for what they are in themselves--projects in conservation biology.
