| dc.description | As Trees, Water & People's National Director, Lacey Gaechter primarily oversees the Tribal Renewable Energy Program, through which she coordinates the distribution of renewable energy systems to tribal families, organizes renewable energy training, and facilitates sustainable business development. Before beginning her life with TWP in 2009, Lacey graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado. In her free time, she enjoys teaching Pilates, and volunteering with other local nonprofit groups. | |

| dc.description.abstract | In her Tribal Business Development Program, Lacey is helping create "green" livelihoods on Native American reservations in the United States, where there is little hope for other employment options, especially those that honor the Native tradition of respect and care for the resources of Mother Earth. Her presentation will focus on the successes and challenges of her 2013 Native American Green Business Development Training, hosted on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, and the subsequent Award process, designed to offer one start-up business with capital and technical assistance. | |
