Abstract
Rolston's career of thirty years spans an integration of science and religion and also his founding of environmental ethics, where he is known as "the father of environmental ethics." He joins these two by arguing that a conservation ethics must be founded on faith in the goodness of creation, also discovered in evolutionary and ecological sciences. Prince Philip will award the prize in Buckingham Palace on May 7, 2003.
