    Abstract
This creative nonfiction book chronicles a family's adventures in raising an adopted child who has Down syndrome. Thematically, it focuses on how this child positively changes and influences his family's and friends' emotional lives and the role he plays in helping his mother overcome and face a life-threatening illness. Furthermore, this book provides some educational elements regarding disability, including its role in society, scientific explanations, and alternative ways of viewing some preconceived, perhaps stereotypical notions about the lives of those who are differently-abled.
