dc.description.abstractCW laser action at an output power of 6 mW has been obtained on the 6149.5 Å transition of Hg II, using a 10 cm long transverse electron beam glow discharge. Beam energies are typically 1 keV. Laser tube design, discharge characteristics, and laser output power are reported.
