    Abstract
    Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB), is one of the world's deadliest pathogens. Recently, TB fell from the leading infectious cause of death to the second leading infectious killer due to COVID-19. Sadly, efforts to control and prevent TB have been negatively impacted by the global pandemic: 2020 saw the first year-over-year rise in cases since 2005.
