Abstract
The Only Ones Who Understand is a collection of five interrelated short stories. I wrote these pieces while enrolled in the M.F.A. Fiction program at Colorado State University. All of these stories involve members of the same family and are set in a town in eastern Oregon. They seek to explore in impact the family unit as a whole has on the individual members that make up the family as well as looking at the way these characters communicate and fail to communicate.
