Shamanism and vulnerability on the North and South American Great Plains
Altmetrics
Abstract
A study of indigenous shamanism and the ways it has been misinterpreted and dismissed by white settlers, policymakers, historians, and anthropologists. Examines the parallels between cultures and societies and outlines relations that invite suspicion and scrutiny. Demonstrates that where stigmatized or repressed, dependence and power manifests in unexpected ways--provided by publisher.
