High power lasers are utilized in a variety of processes in solar energy production and energy storage. In the production of CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) solar cells, pulse lasers are used for the so called P1 scribe step that is the first step in process of creating discrete series connected cells on an otherwise monolithic glass panel. A standard laser process sequence is well established in the industry.
