The artist's statement: I've always found interest in invoking responses from people. As a child this is usually accomplished by making a mess, and smiling cheekily at my parents as I did so. However art allows for a much more refined process of invoking reaction out of a viewer. This can be done a number of ways; my method of choice is through the abject. Abjection can be loosely defined as a significant horror or discomfort one feels when presented with something that acknowledges the mortality of life, of the body, or of one's self.
