Item Open Access Hannah Anderson: capstone(Colorado State University. Libraries, 2019) Anderson, Hannah, artistThe artist's statement: As a graphic designer, one is often creating for others whether it be brochures or logos as it's a client based discipline. However, I am also an artist who uses the discipline of graphic design as a tool to communicate art for myself. Instead of painting, or sculpture, the digital media lends its hand to me in creating my visions. I am attracted to bold and high contrast imagery which is reflected in my three separate bodies of work. I classify my art style into two distinct categories; one is whimsical and bright while the other touches on more serious topics and uses darker colors. These two styles are often combined as well to create a type of juxtaposition between them. Fruits, animals, and celestial bodies are prominent subjects in my artwork because of their meaning or just simply their aesthetic. My personal artwork tends to focus on my struggles with anxiety, which can be seen in my first series "It Consumes Me". The other two body of works are simply whimsical and should invoke a feeling of nostalgia for being young once again. There is no specific order for viewing the different bodies of work. Flip a coin or spin around in a circle and go.
