One of the two drills at Marysvale was moved to St. George, Utah, where drilling began in June, 1951, and was completed in September, 1951. The objectives of the program were: (1) To locate and delineate the ore bodies; (2) To obtain a high core recovery so that the geologic formations and structures may be studied and correlated with those visible on the surface and in the operating mines. Private drill contractors were engaged by the Atomic Energy Commission to further explore the ore bodies, after the initial and successful drilling in which a very high core recovery was obtained by the Bureau. ...
