Essays on metals, energy, and government policies
This thesis consists of three individual papers addressing three questions relating to minerals and energy. Chapter two investigates whether the level of Renewable Portfolio Standards impacts primary metal manufacturing sector using United States data from 1997 to 2015. Chapter three sheds light on the metal market movement by estimating global demand and supply of nickel. Finally, chapter four studies the role of markets and governments in innovation by focusing on solar photovoltaic using data from 34 countries from 1990 to 2014.
