Isekai and the West: An Analysis of the Genre’s Mechanics of Mass Appeal
The intention of this paper is to analyze why the demand for the isekai genre has exploded in the West by analyzing the genre’s mechanics of mass appeal through psychological and cultural patterns in the United States, and as these elements relate to NEETs (Acronym for Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and hikikomoris in Japan.
