Since the Trump administration took office, many believe that hate crime incidences have increased in the United States. Great attention has been directed towards the possibility of hate rhetoric by politicians and the influence they have on the rise in hate crime in the United States. This study examines UCR data from 2008-2018 and tests whether hate crimes increased after President Donald Trump’s administration took office compared to President Barack Obama’s years in office.
