| dc.description | The HSL-Library artifacts collection was the first collection of artifacts cataloged and exhibited at the library. The collection was found in a locked workroom at the Denison Memorial Library in 1997. The items have been used in exhibits and educational programs for many years, and represents a wide variety of medical instruments. |
| dc.description.abstract | Metal box with a clasp closure. The top lid inside is filled with cotton. The interior of the box is separated by metal tabs that hold the components in place. On the left side is a double metal tube. It separates at 90 degree angles. One has a tapered end and the other has a straight ridged edge. Both have a small spigot valve. The bottom is a white rubber stopper. The left and center of the box has the main syringe. It is a metal tube with a double tapered end. The plunger is a solid metal T, rounded. Under the syringe are three needles, a plastic tube with wire in it and a needle shaped hollow tube. The three needles have wire, like those in the plastic tube, in them. The hollow metal tube has a sharp rod with a tapered cylinder insert. |
