Regulation of histone reader binding by histone post-translational modifications and multi-domain crosstalk
The accessibility of eukaryotic DNA depends on the compaction of chromatin, and ultimately on the position and dynamics of nucleosomes. The nucleosome undergoes a wide array of epigenetic modifications on DNA and histones that regulate its structure and function. A network of effector proteins interprets these modifications and modifies the genomic landscape by recruiting chromatin-modifying enzymes.
