James R. Miller (1891-1978) was appointed Secretary to the Colorado State Board of Agriculture in 1939 and served Colorado A&M College (now Colorado State University) in that capacity for eighteen years. Miller became an amateur historian of the university, and this collection includes some of the oldest known documents of Colorado State University. It consists of reports, financial papers, correspondence, manuscripts, diary typescripts, notes, clippings, cassette tapes, photographs, negatives, slides, and legacy inventories created by library staff. This digital collection, with materials dated 1880 to 1999, contains a 1974 oral history interview, slides, photographs, scrapbooks containing the earliest documents related to Colorado State University history, correspondence, speeches, research materials, and drafts of Miller's writings related to CSU history and Elijah E. Edwards, the first president of Colorado Agricultural College.
