Warren Wille: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On March 12, 2010 Warren Wille sat down at his home in Windsor, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Warren, born and raised in St. Paul, MN, served as a B-29 pilot in the 875th Bomb Squad, 498th Bomber Group of the 20th Air Force. He was based in Saipan and altogether flew 12 missions over Japan. He was one of the first pilots to land a damaged plane on Iwo Jima, before the island battle was completely over. After the war he returned home to his lovely wife Ruth and family.
