Alexander Rothe: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On March 19, 2010 Alexander Rothe sat down at his home in Windsor, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Alex was born in Frankfurt on the Oder, Germany to Germans from Russia on their way to America, and he was raised in Loveland, CO. Alex enlisted in the Navy at 17 and was on the west coast getting ready to leave for Hawaii when Pearl was bombed. The ship he would go to serve on, the USS Ralph Talbot (DD-390), was in the harbor that day and survived the attack. Alex spent nearly the entire war in the Pacific and was in almost every battle.
