Roy Ranson: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On March 25, 2010 Roy Ranson sat down at his home in Eaton, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Roy born in Ogden, UT and moved to Oakland, CA in his teens, served in both the Army and the Army Air Corps. After training, Roy shipped to the Pacific Theater, where he joined the 41st Infantry Division and began preparing for the planned invasion of Japan. Thankfully the war ended before the invasion was necessary, and Roy entered Japan as part of the occupation forces. He was assigned to the 95th Chemical Service Co. that went through both Hiroshima and Nagaski not long after the bombs ...
