Howard Knipp: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On November 9, 2010 Howard Knipp sat down at his home in Ft. Collins, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Howard, raised in Napoleon, OH, served in the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in the National Guard while in high school and served out his enlistment. After a break, he and a buddy then enlisted in the Navy. After basic, Howard was assigned to the USS Rigel (AR-11). He later transferred to the USS Fletcher (DD-445), where he was involved in fire control.
