Jack Fawcett: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On March 11, 2010 Jack Fawcett sat down at his home in Windsor, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Jack, born and raised in Brush, CO, served in the 360th Bomb Squad, 303rd Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He was the lead bombardier in a B-17 in the European Theater. Statistically, the most dangerous place to be during the war was in a bomber over Europe, where the 8th took incredible losses. Jack managed to beat these odds by flying not only the mandatory 25 missions, but volunteering for another 5! He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice. Home from Europe, he married ...
