Evaluation of BellS3 temperature prediction model for asphalt pavement design
The design of flexible pavement is largely dependent on temperature of pavement as the mechanical properties of asphalt is very sensitive to temperature change; consider the asphalt surface in a winter morning versus in a noon summer. In the current design software, the temperatures at the different depths of asphalt concrete are predicted using an empirical equation which was developed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
