Chan, Sean, artist2018-05-072018-05-072018https://hdl.handle.net/10217/187479Colorado State University Art and Art History Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: I decontextualize. Then I reconstruct. Exploring the infinite possibilities of New Media, my artwork takes a contemporary/futuristic view on fine art and classic styles, mixing them with digital wonder and invigorating audio sensory adventures. Intuitively created, my work is anchored in an altered reality while showing the mysterious depths contained in all things; my subconscious leads me to express what is hidden in reality. Often referencing music and art from all eras; I would explain my work as something that reproduces familiar visual and aural signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces of digital art and music. Most of my work involves or includes auditory themes, each piece is inspired by a song or musician. Although, some of my work does include music composed by myself that is inspired by the musician at hand to create a more sensory experience. I have found that as a graphic artist in this current time, it is helpful for my art to include music to evoke emotion and cognitive thought, as opposed to just a glance, it helps create a more immersive environment for the audience.born digitalStudent worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
