Perhaps that is because I have never considered myself sufficiently eloquent enough to describe my art with words, and prefer to let it speak for itself. But even more than that, I believe art is deeply personal. It is personal for both for the artist and the viewer, and it cannot elicit the exact same response from any two individuals. Each viewer comes to a piece of art with their own tastes, predispositions, life experience, and beliefs, which is why I find artist statements unnecessary. If I must spell out to the viewer what they should feel when viewing my art, then my art has either failed on a fundamental level, or I constrict the impact it could have by forcing my own narrow interpretation on the viewer. So, I suppose one could call this an anti-artist statement. Some will think it is a cop out. Perhaps they are right, and yet the only thing I can say with finality about my work is that I simply try with every piece to create a little more beauty in the world than it had before I began. I will not tell you how to feel or how to think about my art, but it is my sincere hope that you see the world as a bit more beautiful place when you are finished. Thank you for reading.
