The models were each towed at three different speeds on five different courses. Two different wavelengths and two different model loadings were used. The data were recorded on 16-mm movie film taken from two cameras one showing a front view and the other showing a side view. The results were somewhat inconclusive since all parameters were not varied through a complete range. Results indicate that increasing the length to beam ratio from 8 to 12 for the same planform area results in a slight improvement of the seaworthiness of the seaplane. The tests also indicate that greater magnitudes of pitching, rolling and heaving exist on courses of 120° to 150° than on courses of 90° and 180° relative to wave travel.reportsengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
