There were massive iguana in the front yard and toucans in the back. Such formative experiences have left an indelible mark on me, imbuing me with a great sense of wonder and respect for the living planet. Just as I grew up surrounded by biological diversity, I also was surrounded by cultural diversity. My neighbors ranged from local families who'd lived in Costa Rica for generations to families from Japan, France, and Germany. From a young age I held a fascination with other languages, histories, and legends. Those experiences have been integral to informing my approach to design. I focus on appealing to emotion through shape, form, and color to overcome language barriers. Design is a wonderful tool to effect real change in the world. Good design can change ideas, and those ideas can change behaviors. By approaching design with an eye and heart toward biological and cultural diversity I hope to change the world in ways that increase care and appreciation for the living planet we inhabit.born digitalStudent worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
