Kimber, Erika, artist2007-01-032007-01-032014http://hdl.handle.net/10217/89781Colorado State University Art Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: As a fine art graphic designer, I believe that it is my job to use my artistic abilities to effectively communicate and solve problems while at the same time creating unique designs that are aesthetically appealing. I have included on this CD designs that reflect my personal style and aesthetic. These pieces have been completed in classes, at internships, or for friends, all during the time I have been studying graphic design here at CSU. I believe that these designs I have created fulfilled my personal and cliental wants and needs. The goal I have for my artwork is to be visually appealing, effective, and conceptually strong. I like to do research about the subject matter before making my designs, so that it can be as great and unique as possible. I also enjoy incorporating sustainability practices into my design whenever possible. I understand that graphic design is used in packaging and marketing practices, and is often used as a medium for persuasion. I really do enjoy that side of design, but at the same time, I do not think packaging or promotional objects should be wasteful in any way. I see graphic design as an art form, rather than just a marketing tool and I want that notion to translate into my designs. I believe that I now know what good art and design entails and now it is my job to incorporate that into my future practices.Student worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
