Neitenbach, Sara, artist2017-05-012017-05-012017http://hdl.handle.net/10217/180246Colorado State University Art and Art History Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: My paintings reflect on my experiences with objects, animals, and the human form. I love the process of translating color, form and expressive qualities that interest me. The way edges blend and meet, the consistency of the paint, and intensity of color makes the painting process challenging and engaging no matter the subject matter. In my current series, the environment in which I grew up sparked an interest in the flatirons and flowers. I am from Boulder, Colorado and my mother has floral paintings covering the entire house. Scale has an importance in my work, the different sizes influence how the viewer engages with a piece. For example, my painting of the flatirons depicts the vastness and beauty of the space, whereas for my smaller floral paintings are more delicate and intimate. Most of my work contains a figure ground relationship in a portrait type setting showing the delicacy and importance of a single form.born digitalStudent worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
