Mark, Maggie, artist2016-08-092016-08-092016http://hdl.handle.net/10217/176300Colorado State University Art and Art History Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: I am very interested in the cognitive relationship we share with the aesthetic harmonies found in nature. By abstracting patterns in nature and re-arranging them through printmaking and painting processes, I am able to better understand how these systems are intrinsically integrated. Each investigation of particular biological forms and linear details reveal the phenomenology of a newly interpreted order. Specifically, my color palette choices direct the viewer to explore their own relationship with nature as a formally presented aesthetic experience. This uniquely human capacity is what I implore the viewer to reflect upon in the hopes that these works can deepen their engagement with the symbiotic relationship we share with the natural world during our fragile and seemingly fleeting lifetimes.Student worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
