Kok, Kari, artist2007-01-032007-01-032014http://hdl.handle.net/10217/89783Colorado State University Art Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: My work is inspired by the natural world and the human response to nature. In spite of how many of us live detached from nature, in cities with lives governed by technology, we are still able to understand the powerful symbolism of nature. The symbols need little explanation, they are meant to be accessible to all, to illustrate the intrinsic human connection to nature. Our planet's ecological balance has been compromised and I feel that each of us must use the tools at our disposal to help preserve and restore the natural world. As an artist, I employ visual language to address these issues with the goal of awakening interest and inspiring my audience to action. Art has the power to make people see things in a new light. It allows us to develop a love for places and things that we would otherwise overlook or think of as dull.Student worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
