Daye, Emma, artist2025-05-082025-05-082025https://hdl.handle.net/10217/240558Colorado State University Art and Art History Department capstone project.Capstone contains the artist's statement, a list of works, and images of works. The artist's statement: My work explores ideas of veiling, truth, absence, and exposure. The idea that the absence or replacement of just one element, in an otherwise recognizable object, can create an entirely new entity is my artistic exploration. Viewing objects through their materiality reveals their utility. A welcome mat made of matted hair, a pierced mattress, a cabinet that makes you grab a woman's waist to open it. I am constantly confronting and interrogating material and utility of an object until I can communicate what is revealed as a new object. Intimacy always comes alongside exposure so through my decontextualizing I am able to commit to a sort of intimacy that results in the intended exposure.born digitalStudent worksengCopyright and other restrictions may apply.
