My memoir covers a span of approximately twelve years, and includes the circumstances of my life leading up to joining the military, my experiences while serving in the US Army, and the aftermath of those experiences on my mental and physical health. The first chapter begins during my deployment to Iraq in 2004, and then covers several tumultuous months after I returned to Germany post-deployment. The second chapter begins in 2002 when I first walked into the Army recruiting station.
