    Abstract
The mill was original used for beet processing. It was converted to a uranium mill in 1950. This image is of the south view of the property. In the early 1950s to 1966, the Climax Corporation gave approximately 300k tons of radioactive uranium tailings to the city of Grand Junction, they were used in sewer and road, and in some cases, home construction. Congress, in 1972, gave the AEC authority to cooperate with Grand Junction in a cleanup operation, which the federal government covered 75% of the costs
