Postcard showing the Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) and Lookout Point, which is located in the Black Canyon between Nevada and Arizona. In 1928, the U.S. Congress passed the Boulder Canyon Project Act, which authorized the construction of the Boulder Dam on the Colorado River. In 1930, President Herbert Hoover signed a bill appropriating the funds for its construction, and Six Companies Inc. was awarded the contract to build the dam.
