Structural components made of rubber play an important role in engineering processes. In spite of the widespread and necessary use of rubber, in engineering, a general working knowledge of rubber properties and technology is rather uncommon. A typical application in ropeway engineering is the rubber-aluminum roller subjected to very high thermal and stress gradients during its service life.
