Stories of the heart: illness narratives of veterans living with heart failure
Illness narratives for Veterans living with heart failure (HF) have been largely unexplored to date, yet HF is a significant and impactful illness affecting the lives of millions of Americans and Veterans. This study used narrative inquiry to explore the domains of psychosocial adjustments using the Theory of Adjustment to Illness (Sharpe & Curran, 2006) which included: self-schema, world-schema, and meaning.
